The first thing I did in Amazon's Novel World was see if I could make fun of Amazon give way Jeff Bezos with my username, because of flow from that's what I did, only Amazon was one step ahead of me. New Earth doesn't permit the use of "Bezos" or "Amazon" in your player gens. I had my heart set exploring the world as "Jeff Bezos' Wallet." Now what am I supposed to do?
Later confirmative that variants of Bezos suchlike "JeffB," "Bez0s," and "Be Zos" were likewise latched out, I tried and true honorable going by "Amazon River." That word's non allowed either. These names are clearly not locked because other players have already claimed them. When a name is already taken, it says, "This name is used." Names which include the words Amazon and Bezos, however, "cannot be used," which is also what New World says when you typewrite in swear words.
Microcomputer Gamer's Chris Livingston had the ringing idea to try "Beff Jezos," and to our surprise, it wasn't locked! It was, still, already taken by somebody with quicker witticism than ours.
Sol wherefore has Parvenue World deemed the name of Amazon's founder happening the level of swear words? We'll see if Amazon gets back to us with a statement, but the obvious answer is that hundreds of players dunking happening Jeff Bezos, the very dunkable richest soul on the planet, in Amazon's possess pun would make Virago look slightly ridiculous. Equivalent goes for the word Amazon itself (my backup name of "Unionise Amazon" is a no-go, unfortunately).
Judging by how more of our name variants have been colourful pour down, I'm willing to depend there are a few much Amazon-adjacent row locked out that we haven't caught yet. I'm a trifle obsessed with wise to what is and isn't allowed straightaway, much that it might train me another hour just about to get to the game.
Update: As discovered by one astute user on the New World subreddit, on that point does appear to make up one established Bezos out in the wild. Thier gens is "JeffrieBezos" and, somehow, Amazon hasn't blocked their name. I haven't been able to find operating theater sing to this drug user myself (I suspect direct messages only visit characters happening your own host), but I think I've discovered why the name is allowed.
I fired risen the character Jehovah once again and reverse-engineered Jeffrie's username starting with "Bezos." Later finding that "eBezos" and "ieBezos" aren't allowed, "rieBezos" was accepted. Wherefore? Your guess is as good equally mine. Maybe the game considers this enough of a transformation of Bezos' real name to glucinium beautiful game.
